And They're off!
Today is the day!
I haven't slept in two days as i have been working non-stop to try and finish a job I had promised to finish before departing. I'm extremely tired to the point of collapse but I must go on as I have not packed a thing! I have till 3.30pm to get it all together.
.....
Terrible news on the TV. A suspected terrorist bombing has shaken the city and brought London to a standstill. I have contacted friends who will have been trsveling through Lverpool St. at rush hour and luckily all are OK. The upshot of this is that security has been toghtened at Heathrow so I now need to arrive a few hours earlier for baggage check-in. I have till 1.30pm to pack and it is now 12pm... My bag is empty.

On arrival into Nairobi airport one of our number has fallen at the first hurdle. Sam (who I'd only met 10 hours ago) had managed to consume almost an entire litre of Vodka in-flight and was now teetering on the verge of collapse. He was absolutely roasting. I've never seen someone change so much so quickly. I was quite worried we would not make it through passport control with him in such a state, but miraculously he was let through without question. Was it because we were white, or because they just didn't give a monkeys... I couldn't tell.
